7 Days – Maasai Mara / Nakuru / Samburu

Day 1: Nairobi / Maasai Mara
0930 hrs: leave Nairobi for Maasai Mara game reserve picnic, lunch en route. On arrival proceed to the campsite. After that and if time permits, proceed for a game drive in search of black-manned lion, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes and other plain game. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Maasai Mara
Full day game viewing. All meals and overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Maasai Mara
Early morning pre-breakfast game drive in Maasai Mara. After breakfast leave for Nakuru National Park. Lunch en route, arriving in Nakuru late in the afternoon.

Day 4: Nakuru / Samburu
0630 hrs: Once in Nakuru, proceed to Nakuru National Park for a pre-breakfast game drive noted for its huge concentration of flamingoes. The Park is rich in other bird life and a number of wild animals. After breakfast leave for Samburu. Lunch en route arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 5: Samburu
0630 hrs: After breakfast, depart for an early morning and game drive. Return to the camp for lunch.
1600 hrs: Another game drive. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 6: Samburu, Mt. Kenya / Nairobi
0800 hrs: After breakfast leave Samburu for Nanyuki at the base of Mt. Kenya for picnic lunch. Drop off clients who want to stay behind to climb Mt. Kenya. After lunch, leave for Nairobi.

8 Days – Maasai Mara / Nakuru / Samburu / Mt. Kenya

Day 1: Nairobi / Maasai Mara
0930 hrs: Leave Nairobi for Maasai Game Reserve. Picnic lunch en route. On arrival proceed to the campsite/ lodge. After a short rest proceed for a game drive in search of black manned lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes and other plains game. Return to camp/ lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Maasai Mara
0630 hrs: After breakfast, proceed to an early morning game drive. Return to camp/lodge for lunch. 1600 hrs: After lunch, a further game drive. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.

Day 3: Maasai Mara
Full day game viewing in the Mara with an optional nature walk or a visit to a nearby Maasai village in between meal breaks. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge. (Please note that the visit to Maasai village will cost extra).

Day 4: Maasai Mara / Nakuru
After breakfast, leave for Nakuru National park, game drive, lunch and stop at Lake Elementaita en-route, arriving in Nakuru late in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a budget hotel/lodge.

Day 5: Nakuru / Samburu
0630 hrs. Once in Nakuru, proceed to Nakuru National park for pre-breakfast game drive known for its huge concentration of flamingoes. The park is rich in other bird life and number of wild animals. After breakfast leave for Samburu. Stop at the Thompson Falls with lunch en-route arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the campsite/lodge.

Day 6: Samburu
0630 hrs: After breakfast depart for an early morning game drive. Return to the camp/lodge for lunch. 1600 hrs. Another game drive. Dinner and overnight at the campsite/lodge.

Day 7: Samburu / Mt. Kenya
0800 hrs. After breakfast leave Samburu for Nanyuki at the Base of Mt. Kenya for Lunch. Dinner and overnight at Mt. Kenya Hostels.

Day 8: Mt. Kenya – Mau Mau Caves
0800 hrs. After breakfast leave for the caves for 3 hours visit and then back for lunch at a hostel and then depart for Nairobi.

12 Days  - Maasai Mara / Nakuru / Baringo – Bogoria / Mt. Kenya / Samburu

Day 1: Nairobi / Maasai Mara
Drive through the kikuyu farmland at the edge of the Rift Valley. Descend the escarpment and drive via Narok to Maasai Mara reserve. Evening game drive then dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 2: Maasai Mara
A full day spent viewing this spectacular National park. All big five can be seen. Maasai Mara is also famous for it bird life. Meals and overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Maasai Mara
Full day game viewing. A visit to the Maasai village(optional).

Day 4: Maasai Mara / Nakuru
Before breakfast a short early morning drive in the park. Return for breakfast at the camp. Break up the camp and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. Picnic Lunch served en-route. Arrive Nakuru town lodge late evening. Meals and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru / Baringo
After breakfast enter the lake Nakuru National Bank. The park is noted for its large concentration of flamingoes and a variety of wild animals. Return to the lodge in time for lunch. Drive to Baringo in the afternoon, on arrival set up the camp before the hippos start coming on land. All meals at the camp/budget hotel.

Day 6: Baringo / Bogoria
After breakfast proceed to Lake Bogoria to view thousands of flamingoes, hot springs, Zebras, Impalas, Grant Gazelles, rare Kudus etc. Return to Baringo for lunch. Boat trip in the afternoon to view the hippo and the crocodiles. Meals and overnight at the camp or budget hotel.

Day 7: Baringo / Mt. Kenya
After breakfast, break up the camp and descend the Rift Valley lakes driving via rich Kikuyu farmlands to the beautiful and scenic Mt. Kenya Picnic lunch to be served en-route. Arrive late afternoon Mt. Kenya. All meals and overnight at the Camp/budget hotel.

Day 8: Mt. Kenya / Samburu
After breakfast, the morning is free to enjoy. Optional activities such as fishing, swimming, the Mau Mau caves history etc. Lunch at 1200 hrs and then proceed for Samburu and thereafter evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 9:  Samburu
0630 hrs: After breakfast, depart for an early morning game drive. Return to the camp for lunch. 1600 hrs, another game drive. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 10: Samburu via Mt. Kenya / Nairobi
0630 hrs. Morning game drive and then come back for breakfast, then leave Samburu for Nanyuki for lunch. After lunch,  leave for Nairobi arriving late evening.

Day 11: Tsavo West / Tsavo East
A morning game drive will follow after breakfast and probably view the rock hyrax, squirrels and mongooses as the park contain a large population of these. Depart for Tsavo East National park lunch en-route. Here, only the section south of the Galana River is open to the public for game drives, the rest of the park is  a wilderness for the animals to retreat into. Here the dried up Aruba dam can be seen plus crocodiles point below the Lugard falls. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 12: Tsavo East / Nairobi / Mombasa
After breakfast, your final game drive will follow during which you may see plains game, Zebras, Antelopes, Lesser Kudus, Ostriches and large herd of elephants and Kudus. Lunch will be taken en-route. Arrive in Nairobi in the evening / Mombasa.

12 Days – Maasai Mara / Lake Nakuru / Samburu / Mt. Kenya / Amboseli / Tsavo West and East

Day 1: Nairobi / Maasai Mara
8.45 to 9.15 a.m Pick from your Nairobi hotel. 9.30 a.m. Depart for the Maasai Mara Game reserve with stops at the view-point or the Great Rift Valley and Narok town for lunch and refueling. Arrive in refueling. Arrive in time for a late afternoon / early evening game drive en-route to the lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Maasai Mara
Early breakfast then proceed for a full day game viewing in the reserve. The day will be taken up tracking game with your guide though there will be a beak for a picnic lunch at the hippo pool. The abundance and variety of game in this reserve is nothing short of amazing. Practically every mammal can be seen in the Mara with a few exceptions. Various antelopes, scavengers like hyena and vulture are common. The reserve contains all the cats i.e. Lion, Cheetahs and leopards, sighting leopards needs much more than just being there but lions are abundant and there are excellent chances of spotting cheetahs. The hippo pool is a popular spot to watch out for hippos and with lick, you may catch crocodile basking on the rocks, Elephants, Buffalo, the Maasai Giraffe, Wildebeests and the common Zebra abound. Return to the lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Maasai Mara
After breakfast, proceed on another game viewing session. After lunch you will have the option to go for a game drive or at extra cost, visit a nearby Maasai Village to see their domestic lifestyle. Both activities will end at the lodge or campsite in the mid-evening where you will retire for the night after dinner.

Day 4: Maasai Mara / Nakuru
After breakfast, depart the Mara for Nakuru. The drive offers panoramic views of Mt. Longonot and Lake Naivasha from afar, this means that you will see them from the main highway. Arrive in Nakuru in time for dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 5: lake Nakuru / Samburu
Wake up to an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National park. Flamingoes and other water birds that thrive in a salt-water environment can be seen. With luck you may track the white rhino and the RothsChild’s Giraffe which both have endangered species status. The park is 188 km and is home to cats(both lions and leopards), various antelopes, grazers like warthog and the waterbuck and cape buffalo that breed near the shore line. After the game run, depart Nakuru for Samburu via Thompson falls, which are named after Joseph Thomas – one of the First European who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880s. lunch will be at Nanyuki which is at the foothills of Mt. Kenya. Arrive Samburu in the evening with a game drive en-route to the lodge or campsite where you will retire for the night after dinner

Day 6: Samburu
Morning and afternoon game drives in Samburu with a lunch and leisure break in the mid afternoon. The reserve is home to rare drought resistant animals that are peculiar to the semi-arid region north of the equator. These include the reticulated giraffe, gravy’s Zebra, the beisa oryx, gerenuk and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich. Samburu is dry most of the year but is watered by Ewaso Nyiro river which rises in the Aberdares and drains in the Lorian Swamp north of Shaba Game Reserve. All meals and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

Day 7: Samburu / Mt. Kenya
0800 hrs: After breakfast, depart for Mt. Kenya. En-route lunch at Nanyuki town and then leave for youth hostel which is a few kilometers from the main gate. After check in, visit the Mau Mau caves at the base of the mountain. Where it is believed to be the hiding place for the locals during the colonial period. Dinner and overnight at the hostel.

Day 8: Mt. Kenya / Amboseli via Nairobi
0730 hrs: After breakfast leave Mt. Kenya to Amboseli via Nairobi. Lunch on the way. Drive down to Amboseli via the border of Kenya and Tanzania to arrive in time before the gates are closed. En-route game drive to the camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.

Day 9: Amboseli
After breakfast, proceed on a game drive in this park which lie in a dried-up lake bed. There are swamps and springs fed by underground rivers from the melting snows of Mt. Kilimanjaro which give permanent water to the wildlife. The animals seen here include lion, elephant, wildebeests, cheetah, buffalo, plains game and the rare Taita weaver and the gerenuk. The Animal are mainly found around the Ol Kenya Swamp. If the weather is clear and there is no low cloud cover, you may see the peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro, which forms a beautiful backdrop to the park. The observation hill offers a view of the entire park and beyond. An afternoon game drive will follow after lunch. Meal and overnight at lodge or campsite.

Day 10: Amboseli / Tsavo West
0630 hrs: Before breakfast, early morning game drive then back for breakfast/brunch followed by departure for Tsavo West National park. En-route visit Shaitani lava flow and a view of Chyulu hills as the area where the park lies is a volcanic origin. The Mzima Springs, which contain 20 million tones of crystal-clear water from the underground streams of the nearby chyulu hills are an additional attraction, various aspects of marine life including hippos, crocodile and fish can be seen from the specially constructed underground glass tank. The animal species seen at Tsavo are Hippo, crocodiles, elephants, gazelles, buffalo and Kudu in a thick acacia setting. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or campsite.

8 Days – Turkana Special via Marsabit and the Chalbi Desert

Day 1 Nairobi – Samburu
Depart 9.30 morning. Proceed to Samburu. Lunch en-route arriving late afternoon, dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 2 Samburu
0630 hrs. After breakfast depart for an early morning game drive. Return to camp for lunch. 1600 hrs: Another game drive dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 3: Samburu/Marsabit
After breakfast depart for Marsabit, late afternoon game drive in the park. Elephants, buffalos and kudus can be seen next  to the Marsabit Lodge at the water filled crater. All meals and overnight at campsite.

Day 4: Marsabit / Kalancha
After breakfast make your way past the lava flows of Kalancha. A small settlement at the edge of the Chalbi desert where you will have camp for the night.

Day 5: Kalancha / Lake Turkana
After breakfast depart for Loiyangalani, the name used for south eastern shore of lake Turkana, arriving in the mid afternoon across the Chalbi desert. The desert cannot be crossed in wet weather as the whole of it becomes a shallow lake but alternative roads are available around North and south. Rest of the day at leisure, dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 6: lake Turkana
A full day leisure by the lake. Swimming is not permitted as the lake water’s are crocodile infested. At an extra cost, you can visit the village of the elmolo tribesmen who are said to be the smallest tribe in Africa. All meals and overnight at the Campsite

Day 7: Lake Turkana / Maralal
After breakfast depart Loiyangalani for Maralal, which is administrative center for the Samburu people. The town is used as a transit point en-route to or from lake Turkana. Lunch will be served en-route. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 8: Maralal / Nairobi
After breakfast, depart for Nairobi, lunch en-route. You will stop at the scenic Thompson Falls which are named after Joseph Thomas – one of the First European who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the 1880s. arrive in the mid afternoon.

14 Days Safari

Day 1: 0800 hrs: breakfast, pickup from your Nairobi hotel and drive down south of the country the border of Kenya and Tanzania and then drive East to Amboseli National park. Arrive in time for Lunch followed by afternoon siesta. 1600 hrs: Out for early evening game drive, a chance to see herds of elephants, zebras, giraffes and hippos at the swamps. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/campsite.

Day 2: 0630 hrs: After breakfast, out for early morning game drive exploring in this beauty park searching for the big five i.e. a lion, leopard, elephants, buffalos among others. A chance to see Mt. Kilimanjaro when the sun is out. Lunch at the lodge followed by afternoon Siesta 1600 hrs. An early evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/campsite.

Day 3: 0630 hrs: after breakfast drive out of Amboseli to Maasai Mara via Nairobi for your lunch, then proceed to Maasai Mara arriving there for an early evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge / Campsite.

Day 4: After breakfast, out for a full day of game drive with your picnic lunch, driving to the border of Kenya and Tanzania and then to Mara river to see the wildebeest migration in thousands crossing the river Serengeti to Maasai Mara. Animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs and giraffes among others will be seen on the way. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge site.

Day 5: After breakfast a full day of game drive in this beautiful national reserve enjoying the spectacular wildebeest migration where lots of kills are made by the predators. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / Campsite.

Day 6: After breakfast out for half day game drive then back for lunch at a lodge followed by siesta and then at 1600 hrs, a nature walk to the higher point where you can see almost the entire Mara or a visit to Maasai village on extra cost of (6 US $ per person) to be paid direct to Maasai men accompanying you. Dinner and overnight at the lodge / Campsite.

Day 7: 0700 hrs: After breakfast, depart Maasai Mara for Lake Nakuru getting there in time for lunch. En-route game drive to the lodge. 1500 hrs, early evening game drive in this park with animals such as lions, leopards, white rhino and flamingoes. Dinner and overnight at the lodge/campsite.

Day 8: After breakfast, depart for Bogoria then proceed to Bogoria National park. Caution must be taken when walking near the hot springs, as these are super hot. Dinner and overnight at Lake Baringo.

Day 9: Early morning Bird walk 6.30 to 8.30 after breakfast proceed for a boat trip to view many birds, crocodiles, hippos, monitor lizard, which inhabit this lake or may proceed to snake park, and nature walk explore on foot this natural Lake land. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: 0700 hrs After breakfast departs for Nyeri for the Tree Top Hotels arriving there in time for Lunch. The Tree Top Hotel is where you do viewing of animals as they come to the water hotel just beneath the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
